留学生に毎度聞いていることですが、ごみ箱以外にも意外と多いものがあります。

トイレのどこに驚くかというと
What do they feel surprised about it?
第一位：清潔さ
第二位：きれいさ（清潔でかつきれい）
第三位：温水洗浄便座
1st Hygiene
2nd Nice and clean
3rd Warm water washing toilet seat
だそうです（2018長崎留学生研究会調べ）
I've heard so (from 2018 Nagasaki International Student Research Association)
第三位にランクインしている温水洗浄便座怡（ウォシュレット）ですが、国によっては法律で禁止されている国もあると聞きます。
※シンガポールでは漏電防止のために法律で禁止
Warm water washing toilet seat came in the 3rd rank but I've heard that this kind of toilet is banned by the law.
*In Singapore, it is prohibited by law to prevent electric leakage
逆のケースでは確かに海外ではトイレに違和感というか違いを感じることがままあります。
In the opposite side, there are still something that I feel.. "different" about restroom in other countries.
例えば、トイレの下が開いているケース
これはびっくりしました。
あまりトイレの画像というのもなんだかなということですが、これはセーフですかね、、
For instance, the bottom gaps in the restroom doors
Is this actually safe?
日本ではおそらくあまり見かけないのですが、海外（国際空港）のトイレだとほぼこの下が開いているのが定番な気がします（私の経験上）
You probably can't find one of these in Japan but if you're in other countries (international airport), I think it is common to find one (in my experience).
足が見えると、入ってるのが分かる？それとも防犯上の理由なんでしょうか。
なぜそうなっているかは検証できていません。
You can see their feet so you know they are in the restroom? Does that help preventing crimes? I really can't see why it is built like that.
しかし今となっては思い出深いですが、25年前のJR池袋駅のトイレはかなり汚かった記憶があります。
今からは想像つきませんが＾＾
However, it brings back my memories just now. There used to be a restroom in JR Ikebukuro Station 25 years ago that was quite dirty.
I cannot imagine seeing one now.
いずれにしても日本の個室（トイレ）がきれいでみんながうれしいということなのでよかったかなと。
Anyway, I'm glad that Japanese private room (toilet) is nice and clean, and everyone is happy about it.
日本のトイレを世界標準にできるといいですね＾＾
